Posted 07/28/09: NMFS issues a final rule to initiate collection of a permit fee for vessel owners participating in commercial and charter recreational fishing for highly migratory species (HMS) in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off the West Coast of California, Oregon, and Washington (PDF)

As of August 27, 2009, applications for renewal or new Pacific HMS permits will need to be accompanied by a check or money order payable to “US Department of Commerce-NOAA”.

There is currently not an option to pay by credit or debit card over the phone, so plan accordingly and send in your application allowing sufficient time for processing.
